From Tiga Dari to Prego, Plataran Borobudur Frames an Indonesian Cheese and Wine Experience
Magelang, 20 January 2026 – Plataran Borobudur recently presented an intimate culinary experience through its Cheese and Wine Pairing event, held earlier this January. The collaboration brought together local artisan producer Mazaraat Artisan Cheese and Indonesian winery Sababay Winery, and was curated as a celebration of craftsmanship, flavour, and shared moments. The experience highlighted the richness of locally produced ingredients within a refined yet relaxed setting.
The journey began with a cheese and wine tasting at Tiga Dari Restaurant, Plataran Borobudur, where guests were invited to explore the character of Mazaraat’s artisan cheeses paired thoughtfully with selections from Sababay Winery. Set against the iconic Borobudur landscape, the tasting offered a deeper appreciation of Indonesian-made wine and cheese, framed by a strong sense of place unique to the destination.
Beyond tasting, the event encouraged interaction through a Burrata Making session, allowing guests to observe firsthand the process behind fresh cheese production. This segment bridged craftsmanship and appreciation, offering insight into the skill, patience, and precision required in artisan food-making, while creating a more personal and engaging experience.
The evening continued with a private dinner at Prego Borobudur, an intimate private dining area designed with a library-style setting for a more reflective dining atmosphere. Guests enjoyed a live cooking experience led by Plataran Executive Chef, who spent several years living and working in Italy, in collaboration with a cheese master from Mazaraat Artisan Cheese. Each dish was prepared with an authentic Italian approach, thoughtfully combined with locally sourced Indonesian ingredients, highlighting harmony between cheese, wine, and comforting Italian flavours.
Through this event, Plataran Borobudur reaffirmed its commitment to curating culinary experiences that go beyond taste alone. Mazaraat Artisan Cheese and Sababay Winery were selected as collaboration partners for their shared vision of elevating local Indonesian products into refined culinary experiences, presented with care, balance, and international sensibility.
The Cheese and Wine Pairing experience forms part of Plataran’s broader approach to hospitality through shared moments at the table. Moving forward, the experience will be made available on a regular basis, up to twice each month, as part of Plataran Borobudur’s ongoing culinary curation.
